Bicycle Ride Raises Awareness and Funds for Young Breast Cancer Survivors
New York, New York, (August 17, 2016) — Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is excited to announce that early registration is open for the 2nd YSC Tour de Pink® ride in South Florida - the only three-day cycling event to support young women affected by breast cancer. From April 21-23, 2017, cyclists will ride for 3 days and 200 miles all for one purpose - to ensure no young woman faces breast cancer alone.
Starting in Orlando and ending near West Palm Beach, Fla., riders journey through Kissimmee, Melbourne, Vero Beach, Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie and Hobe Sound for this three-day event. Tour de Pink is a fundraising event of Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the premier nonprofit dedicated to young women with breast cancer. The funds raised will help educate, empower and connect more than 250,000 women living in the U.S. today who were diagnosed before their 41st birthday.
As the largest cycling fundraiser for breast cancer in the country, Tour de Pink creates a rolling community of survivors, family and friends. Together, they raise awareness, offer encouragement and help provide resources to young women. The Today Show’s news anchor, Natalie Morales, joined the YSC Tour de Pink bike ride for what she calls a "life-changing experience." View her incredible journey.
“Tour de Pink helps YSC raise awareness that young women can and do get breast cancer. By riding through our local communities, we can spread the word that a young woman diagnosed with breast cancer does not have to face her journey alone,” said Lisa J. Frank, Ex officio/past board president, YSC founding member, four-time breast cancer survivor and co-founder of Tour de Pink. “We are so excited to grow this “rolling community” in Florida in 2017.”
Starting with only six participants in 2004, YSC Tour de Pink® has continued to grow, generating more than $8 million and now consists of three outdoor bike rides in the East Coast, West Coast and South. YSC anticipates over 500 riders will participate in this year’s national events, raising close to $1.5 million.
This three-day ride feature full rider support, including hotel accommodations, catered meals, rest stops, ride marshals, support and gear (SAG) vehicles and mechanics. One-day options also are available.
Liv Cycling and Oakley are Tour De Pink’s 2017 national event sponsors. Liv is committed to the female cyclist and has generously partnered with YSC since 2008. Oakley donates proceeds from their special YSC Breast Cancer Awareness edition glasses, through their incredible partnership over the past 8 years.
